City Manager Job Opening

About the City Manager Position
The City of Callaway (Population 14,500) located in Bay County is accepting applications for the position of City Manager.  The City of Callaway has a Commission/Manager form of government. The position reports to and serves at the pleasure of the five (5) member Commission; which consists of a Mayor and four (4) Commissioners who are elected at large and serve staggered four (4) year terms. The City, with a $40 million budget and 85 full-time employees, provides the following in-house services to its residents: Fire, Planning, Code Enforcement, Utility Services (Water & Wastewater), Leisure Services (Parks, Recreation, and Conference Center), and a Community Redevelopment Agency. The City currently outsources Law Enforcement with the County’s Sheriff’s Department, and Building Permits with a private industry partner. Preferred Qualities
The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with excellent public relations skills. A desirable core skill set should include:  financial management and budgeting experience, organizational and analytical skills, economic development experience, a thorough knowledge of municipal programs, services, and functions, and the ability to interact with top level officials and others with tact and diplomacy. The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a business related field (Master’s Degree preferred). Five (5) to ten (10) years of leadership experience including organizational, financial, and public relations skills may be substituted for education. Working knowledge in urban planning and community redevelopment and experience in administering a community redevelopment plan is preferred. Experience as a City Manager is preferred. Experience with Grant Administration is required. Familiarity with Florida’s Sunshine Laws and Ethics is required. County residency required within 6 months of employment; prefer successful candidate live in the City. (No relocation expenses will be paid.) The salary range for the position DOE and provides the same benefits package that is made available to all employees.
